Invisalign is a brand of clear aligners that are used in orthodontic treatment to straighten teeth. Like traditional braces, Invisalign treatment involves the gradual movement of teeth to improve their position and alignment. However, Invisalign aligners are made of clear, medical-grade plastic, making them nearly invisible and less noticeable than traditional metal braces.
The Invisalign treatment process begins with a consultation with our clear aligner dentist, who will evaluate the patient’s teeth and create a digital 3D model of their mouth. The 3D model is used to create a custom treatment plan that outlines the movement of teeth throughout the course of treatment.
Once the treatment plan is created, a series of custom aligners are made for the patient, each one slightly different from the last. Patients have to wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only for eating and brushing. The aligners are changed every 1-2 weeks, depending on the treatment plan, to gradually shift the teeth into their desired position.
Invisalign aligners offer several benefits over traditional braces. They are nearly invisible, making them a popular choice for adults and teenagers who are self-conscious about their appearance. The aligners are removable, allowing for easy brushing and flossing and enabling patients to eat their favorite foods without restrictions. In addition, Invisalign treatment typically requires fewer office visits than traditional braces.
However, Invisalign may not be suitable for all patients or all types of orthodontic issues. It requires a high level of patient compliance, and patients must be willing to wear the aligners for the recommended amount of time each day. It’s important to consult with an orthodontist to determine if Invisalign is the right treatment option for you.
